What inspired Kurokenshin?
It all started surrounding the story of a black sword, and it basically grew from there. The black sword idea came from a made up character I had used for InuYasha fan-fics. I guess I'm not surprised since InuYasha was, in fact, the first anime picture I've ever drawn >_>. But as the story goes on it seems to have a similar feel to Bleach (which I first saw on Adultswim). Now, as I'm deep into the script, it's really become it's own story.
When I had first started working on the series it was in the summer of '05 and it was basically done all in ink on 8.5x11 paper. By the time I restarted that 1st chapter in December I was using Photoshop and DELETER manga paper. The character designs were created on the spot that summer and have stuck faithfully ever since.
What about WACOT?
I had been wanting to put up an online manga for sometime, but I didn't want to start another one of my long series in the works. At the time I was working on a script in which the main characters, who was a girl, had more boyish appearances and was often mistaken for one. After drawing up some designs I ended up with Kira in a soccer uniform (during the middle of my indoor soccer season). Basically that day I started on the pages. There's no page-by-page script for this series, which I'm thankful for..it's more funny this way :) When I first put it up, people said it reminded them of She's the Man, which I was then finally encouraged to watch around Chapter 3.
What other stories/projects are you working on as side projects or future projects?
There was actually quite a few. I'm very scatterbrained when it comes to these things. One small event can spark an entirely new plot, character, or twist. Besides Kurokenshin, and WACOT, there were tons of scripted ideas I had for other series. A while ago I was almost doing six different stories at once; I thought that telling all those stories sooner than later would be better, but I eventually came to my senses and narrowed it down. At the moment I am only working on three series: Kurokenshin, WACOT and XYZ, and I have finished a small stand-alone book (The Silencer).
